prayer

Life as a Daughter of Charity is animated, first of all by the love of God and nourished by personal and communal prayer.

THROUGH PRAYER & CONTEMPLATION

As Daughters of Charity our relationship with God is nourished by the Vincentian tradition in which we are formed and live. This is rooted in the Scriptures, in reflective times of silence, liturgy, the Eucharist, community prayer and personal contemplation, the sacramental life and teachings of the Church. This includes praying with Mary, especially through the Miraculous Medal, the writings of St Vincent de Paul and St Louise de Marillac and in our contact with those who are vulnerable and poor.

reminds us

St. Louise de Marillac's guidance, rooted in her profound spirituality, offers a clear direction for us. She tells us,

“I want all of you to become saints. In order to do this, dear Sisters, we must have continually before our eyes our model, which is Jesus Christ. We are called to imitate His life, not only as Christians but also as persons chosen by God
to serve him in the person of the Poor.”

(Letter of St Louise to Sr Anne Hardemont 29th August 1648)

We live a rich, challenging spirituality, a path well worn by the thousands of our Sisters who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith: a path to wholeness and holiness.

our core pillars

THE THREE STRANDS OF OUR LIFE

The life of the Daughters of Charity is deeply intertwined with three fundamental strands: 'Given to God' through prayer and contemplation, 'In Community' for mutual support, and 'In Service of the Poor,' mission embodying the essence of charity as exemplified by Jesus Christ. Our commitment to these pillars shapes a life of deep faith, communal support, and tireless service. Discover more about each aspect of our life:
