The daughters of charity

VOCATION

“The call heard by the first Sisters is ever the same. Throughout the world it continues to raise up and assemble Daughters of Charity, who strive to rediscover at the source the inspiration and intuitions of their Founders, so that they may respond with ever renewed fidelity and availability to the needs of their time.”

(Constitutions)

As Daughters of Charity, we do not live our lives cloistered behind closed walls, but rather we live alongside those living in poverty, amongst our sisters and brothers on the margins of society, offering our simple and humble service to them.

Whatever the task may be, at the root of it is our unwavering dedication to promote human development and to collaborate with others to effectively address complex social issues. This commitment drives our every action as we strive to make a positive impact in the world and create meaningful change for the betterment of society.

Living out a life inspired by Love

As Daughters of Charity our life has three fundamental pillars…..

  • Given to God…..
  • in Community…….
  • for the Service of those who live in poverty

inspired by love

These three pillars are expressed in our daily lives

The life of the Daughters of Charity embody three core strands: 'Given to God,' 'In Community,' and 'In the Service of persons living in poverty.' Our life, deeply rooted in prayer and contemplation of Jesus Christ, the epitome of charity, guides us to live in communion with God, support each other, and selflessly serve the poor.

GIVEN TO GOD

As a Daughter of Charity, life is enriched with the love of God and nurtured through personal and communal prayer. We are everyday women committed to dedicating our lives as a gift to God, in order to serve Him in marginalised, fractured families, and communities.

PRAYER

IN COMMUNITY

Community life is one of our basic supports. Mostly living in small communities, it is where we can experience together love, joy, growth, refreshment and peace. It is faith-filled, challenging and calls us to live creatively the values of the kingdom in today’s world.

COMMUNITY

IN SERVice

Our service to those who live in poverty takes many shapes, but our aim is always the same…. provide support and opportunities for society’s most vunerable members that gives them the dignity they are entitled to as ‘Children of God’.
