Centenary Scholarship to Support Future Women Leaders

As part of the Centenary celebrations of the Daughters of Charity in Australia, a perpetual scholarship has been established in partnership with the Australian Catholic University (ACU) to create a lasting legacy of support for future generations of women committed to serving others.

The Daughters of Charity Centenary Scholarship will provide ongoing assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander female students commencing their studies at ACU from 2027. The scholarship is designed to support students who demonstrate financial hardship and who are pursuing studies that align with the enduring mission and values of the Daughters of Charity.

Preference will be given to students enrolled in courses within the fields of health, education and social justice, reflecting the areas in which the Daughters have dedicated themselves to serving communities across Australia for the past 100 years.

Grounded in a deep commitment to healthcare, education, social justice and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the scholarship seeks to create opportunities for students whose potential is strong and whose future contributions to their communities will be meaningful and enduring.

The establishment of this perpetual scholarship represents a significant milestone in the Centenary year. More than a celebration of the past, it is an investment in the future, ensuring the values of compassion, service, inclusion and social justice continue to shape lives and communities for generations to come.

Through this scholarship, the Daughters of Charity honour their century-long commitment to walking alongside those facing disadvantage while helping to empower the next generation of women leaders who are called to make a difference in the lives of others.
