Daughter of Charity to be Beatified

Monday, March 23, Pope Leo XIV authorized the promulgation of several decrees concerning causes of beatification and canonization. In particular, these decrees recognize the heroic virtues of six Servants of God. Among them is Sister Stanislawa (Barbara) SAMULOWSKA, Daughter of Charity, born January 30, 1865, a native of Poland, Province of Chelmno-Poznan, who spent her life as a missionary in Guatemala where she died on December 6, 1950.  Let us give thanks to God for this recognition! .  As a youngster of 12 years of age she was one of the two young girls who witnessed the apparitions of the Virgin Mary in Gietrzwałd, the only officially recognized apparitions in Poland. These events made a deep impression on her and guided her toward a life dedicated to religious and missionary service. For more than five decades, she consecrated herself to the poor and sick in Guatemala, leaving a legacy of love and devotion.
