First day as Prime Minister in UK

On his first day as Prime Minister, Andy Burnham visited The Passage, a Vincentian Charity supporting people experiencing homelessness in London. The Charity was set up by the Daughters of Charity in collaboration with the late Cardinal Basil Hulme in 1980. Mr Burnham joined outreach teams in Victoria to meet rough sleepers and learn about the charity's frontline work, before speaking with people with lived experience of homelessness and volunteering in the charity's kitchen. He also praised the organisation's impact and reaffirmed his commitment to tackling homelessness, while The Passage's Chief Executive, Mick Clarke, welcomed the visit and called for bold action on housing and homelessness. The charity said it looks forward to working with the new government to help make homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring.
