On Saturday, 10th May 2025 in Christopher Grange Nursing Home, Liverpool - Sister Ann Buckeridge DC  celebrated 70 years as a Daughter of Charity with her family, friends, work colleagues and DC companions. Fr Paul Roche CM, Provincial Director, presided over her celebratory Mass. Part of the ambience at the altar was a carved sculpture depicting the “Washing of the Feet” by Jesus at the Last Supper. This had been presented to Sr Ann on her 60th anniversary, ten years previously, by her sister Tina. On its base is inscribed the names of all the family members. Afterwards there was a lovely meal, served in the Activities Centre. Sr Theresa Tighe, Provincial, gave a congratulatory speech which focused on the span of ministry undertaken by Sr Ann in the past 70 years. After leaving her family home in Sheffield she began her training as a Daughter of Charity at Provincial House in Mill Hill, London. Afterwards she trained as a Primary School Teacher using her teaching skills throughout her life as a Sister in places as far afield as Birmingham, Glasgow, Ethiopia, India, Egypt, Hull and Liverpool. A wonderful life of humble Vincentian service. Thank you, Sister Ann. AD MULTOS ANNOS!

Sister Theresa Tighe D.C. (Provincial) welcomed Fr Eugene - "It is with deep joy and heartfelt gratitude that we welcome Fr Eugene, our Vincentian brother, as Provincial Director of our province of Blessed Rosalie Rendu." Theresa went on to say that Eugene's previous ministries have shaped him into a compassionate listener, a thoughtful guide, and a faithful companion on our journey of discernment. As we prepare for our upcoming assemblies under the theme 'Artisans of hope and peace,' Fr Eugene's presence is a sign of God's providence. His accompaniment will help us shape a future that is faithful to our charism and responsive to the needs of those we serve - our own sisters, the poor, the forgotten and all whose lives touch ours in any way. In his homily, Fr Eugene emphasised the notion of accompaniment, walking with people as they discover for themselves the freedom that is theirs as beloved children of God. It is up to us to do what God asks of us in good times and not so good times. He emphasized that we are not in control but God is in control and his grace and mercy extends to all of us.
