Archbishop Moth Patron of SVP

March 16, 2026

Supporting its mission to tackle poverty

Archbishop Richard Moth was appointed the 12th Archbishop of Westminster on 14 February 2026 and maintains a longstanding relationship with the Society of St Vincent de Paul. The Daughters of Charity welcome his taking on board of the role of Patron, through which he offers his support to the Society’s efforts in providing practical assistance and social services to vulnerable communities throughout England and Wales. Previously, during his tenure as Bishop of Arundel and Brighton, Archbishop Moth served as Patron of the St Vincent’s Centre in Brighton, a community hub that delivers services and activities for older adults and support for individuals in areas of deprivation.

Archbishop Richard has consistently highlighted the significance of safeguarding human dignity and supporting those most at risk, closely mirroring the mission of the SVP to assist individuals in need, irrespective of their background or circumstances. His appointment is closely aligned with the Society’s core values of service, compassion, and advocacy for marginalised populations, including refugees and the dispossessed.
